I Can’t Tell You Apart in the Dark: Create Unique Character Voice to Shed Light on Your Prose

J.E. Thomas, Author

If the main characters in your work-in-progress met in a room and the lights suddenly went out, could you tell them apart based solely on what they said? Differentiating between characters requires thoughtful decisions about word choice, sentence pacing and more. In this exercise-driven workshop, we’ll look at dialogue excerpts from MG/YA best-sellers then revise a page or two of dialogue from our work. Pre-work required! Before this seminar, select a dialogue-rich chapter from your work-in-progress and remove ALL attributions (they said, etc.) and exposition so you’re left with just dialogue. Limited, optional sharing. Best suited for intermediate-advanced writers.
